INTRODUCTION

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become an important tool for planning, resource management and decision making. Its ability to store, retrieve, analyze, model and map spatial data has enhanced its application. GIS is applied in all the fields of life such as infrastructural management, project beneficiary mapping, land use planning, market analysis, utilities management etc. This course therefore aims at training partakers with knowledge on how to use GIS tools to explore spatial data and analyze maps to communicate information and make decisions.

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Participation.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the participant should be able to:

·      Understand GIS concepts

·      Perform spatial analysis on data for better understanding

·      Acquire clean and map GIS data

·      Complete an entire project on acquiring processing analyzing and visualizing GIS data

·      Geocode addresses to longitude and latitude coordinates

·      Work with both vector and raster data.

DURATION

 5 days

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The course targets government representatives, project teams, NGOs, multi and bilateral development organizations, consultancies, project managers, researchers and technical specialists.
