INTRODUCTION

At the global, regional, and national levels, disaster preparedness must be improved in order to save lives, safeguard livelihoods, and aid recovery from disasters and crises. However, there are considerable gaps in the coordination of disaster and emergency preparedness operations in many international development institutions. These issues can be addressed by better integrating contingency planning and business continuity planning into organizational operations by adopting multi-hazard emergency preparedness standards and tools. Contingency planning ensures that individuals and organizations know what to do when disaster strikes, and have the systems and tools to respond in a timely manner during such incidences. It means anticipating the types of disasters that might occur and understanding how to manage them when they strike.

This training is meant to improve knowledge on contingency planning including the entire cycle of activities that go into the development of plans that are practical, result oriented, simple, participatory, and realistic and supported by preparedness actions.

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Participation.
