INTRODUCTION Development in the rural areas is escalating given that in the modern era, urban areas have already been developed. However, to accomplish rural development certain aspects such as the financial and agricultural knowledge of rural development must be understood and taken into account. This course will impart its participants on the proper methods and key principles of rural development. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive Certificate of Participation.
OBJECTIVES By the end of the course, the participant should be able to: · Assess rural development policies in terms of their potential impact on rural poverty, equity and economic growth, taking account of different regional and geographical circumstances. · Explain and critically review current debates in rural development regarding rural livelihoods and the respective roles of markets, the state, institutions, property rights, agriculture and the rural non-farm economy. · Evaluate past and existing attempts to supply rural services, such as infrastructure, finance, research and extension, health and education. · Understand the special challenges of rural areas that are traditionally associated with rural and agricultural credit directed to the poor. · Evaluate agricultural and rural portfolios and analysis of loans utilizing the 5C’s of rural finance · Be familiar with several innovative models and alternate ways of offering rural finance services. · Gain skills in conducting seasonality analysis, preparing cash flows, assessing risk and appraising loans. · Develop an understanding of new and innovative loan products and savings approaches for agriculture and rural areas. · Gain awareness of sources and reference links to further information and support for addressing future challenges in the application of financial services in rural areas. DURATION 5 Days WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course targets individuals working in financial institutions in rural areas, government and non-government organizations, MFIs, as well as donors who work and support rural development. GENERAL NOTES · The instructor led trainings are delivered using a blended learning approach and comprises of presentations, guided sessions of practical exercise, web-based tutorials and group work. Our facilitators are seasoned industry experts with years of experience, working as professional and trainers in these fields. · The participants should be reasonably proficient in English as all facilitation and course materials will be offered in English. · Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued with a certificate. · The training will be held at Kincaid Training Centre.
