Introduction
Agroforestry—the deliberate integration of trees, crops, and livestock in the same land-use system—is increasingly recognized as a cornerstone of sustainable agriculture and climate-smart land management. In the face of climate change, land degradation, deforestation, and food insecurity, agroforestry systems offer innovative solutions that combine ecological resilience, livelihood improvement, and environmental sustainability.
Agroforestry enhances food security by diversifying crop production, improving soil health, reducing erosion, and regulating water cycles. At the same time, it strengthens climate resilience through carbon sequestration, microclimate regulation, and biodiversity conservation. For farming households, agroforestry provides multiple income streams—from timber, fruits, nuts, and fodder to carbon credits and ecosystem services—making it a vital approach for smallholder resilience and sustainable development.
This training course, organized by Kincaid Development Center, equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to design, implement, and manage agroforestry systems that address food security challenges while enhancing climate resilience. Combining scientific foundations, policy insights, and hands-on field practices, the program bridges research and practice, empowering stakeholders to drive impact at local, national, and global levels.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive Certificate of Participation.
